You know all that nice weather I mentioned in the last post? On Friday, it was GONE and replaced by a weekend-long bout of nasty, cold, and rainy. GRRR.
On the flip side, I finally settled down to finish The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, a “quick-read” title that turned out to not be such a quick read after all.
I love mysteries, crime fiction, and trying to solve the case before a book’s (or movie’s) characters do. So many people who have decent taste recommended it to me that I was really looking forward to it. I enjoyed the mystery, but I didn’t find the characters all that engaging. I do think the books will be good movies, though, so I’ll just watch them rather than reading the rest of the trilogy. Onward to the next book…
Some cool stuff I ordered a little while back just landed! Several years ago, I read a pre-publication version of Frederik L. Schodt’s The Astro Boy Essays to prepare for a podcast interview, and I recommend it highly. I’m also looking forward to watching I Really, Really Like You, but it’s over 30 episodes, so I need to pace myself. :)
