My copy of Moyoco Anno’s Insufficient Direction arrived yesterday.
She’s one of my favorite manga artists — thanks to her distinctive perspective and sense of humor — and I’ve been looking forward to reading this essay comic since Vertical announced it last year.
You see, it’s a semi-autobiographical look at her life with husband Hideaki Anno, who happens to be the director/creator of the notable (and potentially brain-melting) Neon Genesis Evangelion anime series, i.e. a supreme otaku and force in the world of Japanese animation.
hen I see articles mentioning their marriage, I sometimes wonder, “How does that work?” Apparently, I’m not the only one. 😉
