Los Angeles & Anime Expo 2012 – On the Floor

Anime Expo 2012 - Exhibit Hall 1 - Blue Exorcist

This year, my Anime Expo experience was much more work than anything else — running from panel to panel, issuing press releases, and carting swag and goodies for the fans from place to place. I only made it through the entire exhibit hall one time and had 15 minutes here and there to snap some photos and shop.

Above: The outside of the Aniplex of America booth had some gorgeous, giant banners featuring artwork for the shows they have worked on and/or released. I’m enjoying Blue Exorcist so far.

Anime Expo 2012 - Exhibit Hall 2 - Fate/Zero

Above: The art for Type-Moon shows, like Fate/Zero, is always striking.

Anime Expo 2012 - Exhibit Hall 3 - Giant Gundam

Above: This almost Alison-sized Gundam stood guard just outside the model-building showcase.

I could have spent hours looking at and taking photos at this booth! I always leave exhibits like this thinking, “I want to build a Gundam!”

Then I have to give myself a major reality check regarding the time involved.

Anime Expo 2012 - Exhibit Hall 4 - Dragon Ball Z

Above: In the five or so minutes I spent around the FUNimation booth, no fewer than 10 different people stopped in front of the Dragon Ball Z backdrop to take photos of themselves posing like the characters.

Anime Expo 2012 - Exhibit Hall 5 - Madoka Magica's Kyubey

Above: Kyubey from Puella Magi Madoka Magica keeps a watchful eye over the show floor.

Anime Expo 2012 - Exhibit Hall 6 - Gundam UC

Above: A banner for the current OVA series, Mobile Suit Gundam UC, was above the Gunpla exhibit. (Love Gundam!)

Anime Expo 2012 - Exhibit Hall 7 - Toyota x Studio 4°C PES

Above: One of Toyota’s current ad campaigns features animation from Studio 4°C, so they had several banners promoting it throughout the convention’s public areas.
