It’s NO secret that I’m a huge fan of all things Ai Yazawa, including NANA.

The July issue of Shojo Beat is the last issue that will feature the serialization of the manga, but that’s OK. We’re just getting to the really intense parts — rated “M” — and it not being featured in mag means that North American readers get the graphic novels much faster. ;-)

The series’ two female leads are both named “Nana,” natch, and the word “nana” is the Japanese word for the number “seven,” so some very enthusiastic fans have proclaimed today worldwide NANA day.

No celebrations here in Des Moines. Instead, I am pleased to present two quizzes with commentary.

Nana Manga – What character are you? (Ai Yazawa)

You’re Hachi! You’re the tipical cute top girl! You’re a good person, always thinking in others, even if you sometimes do the wrong thing, caring person, also very week when you have not to be.You always try to do your best and have a smile to everyone!

The person who wrote this quiz can’t spell! >_< Anyway… I always find it interesting that so many people point to Nana O. as the “strong” Nana, when to me, Nana K. (“Hachi”) has always seemed to be the more resilient Nana. The older I get, the more I value this particular trait.

Now for the guys… and geeky fangirl ramblings!

Which Character from Nana are you

You are Yasu!

If I had to choose guy from the NANA-verse for a significant other, I’d want to choose Yasu. He just all-around rocks and is the kind of personality to which I aspire. However, I’ve got a major soft spot for Takumi. Apparently, I’m not the only one: Somewhere on the ‘net, I read that he is one of Ms. Yazawa’s faves, too.
