Before Ranma 1/2 and InuYasha, Rumiko Takahashi was best known for the bikini-clad alien Lum and the bittersweet romance of Maison Ikkoku.
My earliest exposure to the crazy inhabitants of the Maison Ikkoku boarding house was via VIZ Media’s first North American release of the manga.
Re-reading it — years later and now in the original order — I wondered if it would have the same impact I remembered.
Wonderfully (and maddeningly), it does, and I can’t wait to read the rest.
