Priss prepares for battle.

A Tokyo of the Future

Reborn from the debris of a catastrophic earthquake, the MegaTokyo of 2032 is a bustling metropolis, jam-packed with not only people, but the biomechanical "boomers" who made its reconstruction possible. Like other major cities, it has its problems — crime, poverty and decay — yet its humans are not solely to blame. More and more crimes are caused by boomers and "mechanically- enhanced" humans.

Knight Sabers ready for action.

A special, paramilitary police unit, the AD Police, was created to combat the growing problem. Unfortunately, the underfunded and understaffed ADP is rendered virtually ineffective due to the political maneuverings of the manufacturing giant Genom. This ineffectiveness along with an increase in boomer-related violence resulted in the formation of a vigilante squad of mercenaries, the Knight Sabers. Their armored "hardsuits" not only disguise their civilian identities, they boast the powerful, high-tech weaponry needed to stop rampaging boomers in their tracks. Their successes serve to make the struggling ADP look worse and place them at the top of the agency's "most wanted" list. They are so successful that Genom starts to take notice: in addition to controlling the world's boomer market, the conglomerate is actively working toward control of a much greater prize. And the Knight Sabers are a potential threat.
