Event Publicity – Lunar Eclipse Party

LUNAR ECLIPSE PARTY
The Bishop Planetarium

The Bishop Planetarium is genuine institution among Suncoast Florida residents, the majority of whom have visited the facility, to watch star shows, enjoy laser shows and take part in star-gazing sessions, or have participated in off-site programs, including astronomy nights in downtown Bradenton and local schools.

Flyer: Lunar Eclipse Party 2000

The January 2000 Lunar Eclipse Party was one such representative program and attracted approximately 1,800 people throughout the course of the evening. (Proceeds benefited the facility’s educational programs.)

As with all other events at the museum, planetarium and aquarium, I was in charge of handling marketing and public relations and arranging media sponsorships.

In addition to pre- and post-event newspaper articles in the Bradenton Herald, in the Manatee/Sarasota Herald-Tribune and on CNN.com, the Planetarium received a significant amount of television and radio coverage, including a pre-event morning live shot and segment on FOX 13s “Good Day Tampa Bay” morning show, evening coverage on FOX 13 (Tampa) and SNN Newschannel 6 (Sarasota), and an evening-long remote with classic rock station 102.5 FM (Tampa-St. Petersburg).
