Songs About Jane, Maroon 5 | It's been a long time since I've enjoyed an American pop/rock album by a new band this much. The ENTIRE album. Lead singer Adam Levine's vocal mannerisms on "Harder to Breathe" and "This Love" remind me of Steely Dan's Donald Fagen. Combined with the fact the rest of the band has solid musical chops, it's a really wonderful thing. Other early favorites include "Shiver," "Tangled" and "Not Coming Home."
Eve of Absolute Evolution Revolution, Revolutionary Girl Utena TV O.S.T. 1 | I'm paying penance for downloading the opening and closing themes ("revolution" and"truth," respectively) four years ago, long before anyone fathomed we might see these albums stateside -- much less stateside and at a lower cost than the imports. ^_^
Super GALS! Vol. 5: It's Okay to Have a Change of Heart | I love this series, and I stalk Best Buy and Suncoast like a lunatic whenever the next volume is due. I'm really hoping ADV Films announces that they've got the second season. Soon.
Boys Over Flowers (Hana Yori Dango), Vol. 4: Please Believe Me! | I've always had a soft spot for the anti-hero, but Tsukasa is starting to justify my faith in him. He's got a long way to go, but he took a big step in character growth with this volume. YAY!
Witch Hunter Robin on Cartoon Network | Even though I have the chance to watch this for free over cable, I have a feeling I'll still be buying each new volume as soon as it comes out. Really digging this series, its X-Files vibe and the great cast.
Angel Sanctuary, Vol. 1 by Kaori Yuki | An interesting premise and a lead character tortured by a troubling fixation on his sister. I'm looking forward to seeing how this one develops.
Fruits Basket, Vol. 2 by Natsuki Takaya | Already it's starting to diverge slightly from the anime. Momiji's a cutie pie, and Hatori has a melancholy wistfulness about him. This is one of those series where you want to give all of the main characters a big hug.
Happy Mania, Vol. 7 by Moyoco Anno | It's over the top, its characters are unrelentingly unsympathetic, and I'm totally addicted.
