The A List - August 23, 2002
By Alison L. Roberts
LISTENING:
I've been in a very Garbage mood this week, i.e., their self-titled release, Version 2.0 and beautifulgarbage are on heavy rotation. In particular, I like beautifulgarbage more every time I listen to it. That sucker grows on you.
WATCHING:
I'm catching up on taped episodes of General Hospital and Port Charles this week. Can't we just dispose of Livvie? (A character on PC)
READING:
Chicago by Yumi Tamura (currently serialized in Animerica Extra): I'm really diggin' this story and her sketchy artistic style. (It also doesn't hurt that she draws rather handsome male characters, either.) I love her art so much that I spent a good part of Anime Festival Orlando in the dealers' room trying to track down...
The second Basara Art Collection, also by Tamura: This was a major score for me. Mint condition and including a little envelope with playing cards and a board game featuring the main characters. I (heart) Shuri and Ageha. Now someone needs to license this so I can actually READ it.
CONVENTIONS/GATHERINGS:
Anime Festival Orlando was a very pleasant experience in addition to my adventures in the dealers' room. Specifically, I'd like to single out the gang over at Studio Ironcat. If they are guests at any cons by you, go out of your way to check out their panel: It will be one of the more entertaining and informative ones you will attend. I'll post a report with details next week. (I'm not just saying this because they are friendly to little sites like mine. They're pretty darn friendly to everyone. :-) ) Also, kudos to Manga Entertainment for making the trip so far South. More of the companies need to visit Florida more often.
