The A List - April 9, 2002
By Alison L. Roberts
LISTENING:
Seatbelts, Ask DNA soundtrack from the Cowboy Bebop Movie.
VH1 Behind the Music: Rick Springfield Collection. / Hey he was my first concert!
Vanessa Carlton's "A Thousand Miles." / One of the best debut tracks I've heard in a long time, and that's considering my bias to favor male vocalists over female vocalists. I'm looking forward to hearing more from this chick! (You can hear the song at her web site, here.)
WATCHING:
Boogiepop Phantom TV series: Weird and complex, predates Memento and takes the concept to the Nth degree.
Moulin Rouge: You either love it or hate it. I loved it.
Alfred Hitchcock's Rebecca: If you marry a widower, and he has a housekeeper like creepy Mrs. Danvers, run for the hills. FAST.
READING:
Cowboy Bebop Manga, Vol. 1.
Miss Tippy by Janet Lambert: I loved her books when I was a teenager, but since they were written between the 1930s and 1970s, they've always been hard to find. Now a publishing company specializing in historical reprints and text books is re-releasing them all of them. Find'em here.
